"UpCountry" Christmas

Last night I spent an enjoyable evening in the downtown square…taking in all the music and festivities during the annual Christmas Stroll. Most of you are already familiar with the shop Beadboard UpCountry in Brenham, Texas…owned and operated by Houston transplants Maryanne and Peter Flaherty. Right now it glows with the spirit of Christmas, and Maryanne’s attention to detail makes it that much more warm and welcoming.

I’m sure you will enjoy the photos, and will probably be tempted to make a visit…go ahead, follow the temptation, which will surely bring holiday cheer to yourself (and with the great gift items, for others on your list as well!).

Maryanne has the "next generation" in mercury glass...
beautiful burnished silver.

It is a "white" Christmas! ...perfect for year round

After you have finished buying yourself a few great Christmas gifts (oh…and for the others on your list, too) you will want to take your own stroll around the square to enjoy Christmas country style…

There was a crisp chill in the air…perfect for a ride around the square

Christmas music serenaded the downtown strollers from the band stand on the town hall square…

This is a view of the downtown courtyard…dedication bricks were inset into the walkway, personalizing the space…

My personalized brick is at the main entrance to the courtyard…

Next to the courtyard… Nellie’s always has the right spirit…

and a few shops down…more country Christmas

You can complete your evening on the square with dinner and usually live music on weekends at Ernie’s or the Rendez-Vous (call ahead for times).

Enjoy Yourself!
